Could dental implants be right for you?
An implant consultation starts with your goals: replacing one missing tooth, improving chewing, or exploring support for several replacement teeth. A dentist evaluates your oral health, gum tissue and jawbone before recommending treatment options. Healthy gums and enough supporting bone matter; an examination is needed to assess your individual situation.
Bring a medication list and tell the team about smoking, diabetes, previous dental work and any healing concerns. These factors can affect healing and the treatment plan. Bone loss does not answer the question by itself: ask whether bone grafting, another approach or a different tooth replacement would be appropriate.
UNDERSTANDING YOUR REPLACEMENT TOOTH
Implant, abutment and crown: three different parts
The implant sits in the jawbone and supports the replacement tooth. The abutment connects the implant to a dental crown—the visible part shaped to fit your bite and smile. Ask your dentist to explain each part of the proposed dental restoration and how it will be maintained.

YOUR TREATMENT, STEP BY STEP
The dental implant procedure
Implant treatment involves planning, placement, healing and the final replacement tooth. The sequence and number of appointments depend on your needs. Ask about the complete timeline, including any preparatory dental treatment and temporary teeth.
Smiles Today Dental uses local anesthesia. We do not offer sedation. Discuss anxiety and comfort needs before scheduling so the team can explain what to expect and whether our approach suits you.
01
Consultation and treatment planning
Discuss what you want to change and which teeth are involved. Your dentist reviews your health and examines your mouth; imaging helps assess the supporting bone. Ask who will perform each stage, where your visits will take place and how the estimate accounts for additional procedures.
02
Implant placement and healing
The implant is placed in the jawbone. During healing, bone integrates with its surface—a process called osseointegration. This may take several months. Follow your dentist’s instructions about eating, cleaning and follow-up; ask what temporary replacement, if any, is appropriate while you heal.
03
Your replacement tooth and follow-up
Once the implant is ready, the abutment and custom-made crown or other restoration are fitted. Your dentist checks the bite and explains ongoing care. Tell the team about discomfort or looseness, and keep your recommended follow-up visits.
ONE TOOTH OR SEVERAL
Types of dental implants and replacement teeth
The restoration should match the teeth you need to replace. These are different treatment approaches, not interchangeable packages. Your dentist will explain the available options and which are suitable for you.
A model helps explain how implants can support replacement teeth.
Single tooth implants
For a single missing tooth, one implant can support a crown. Unlike a traditional tooth-supported bridge, this approach does not require preparing neighboring teeth to support the replacement. The crown is planned for a natural appearance alongside your other teeth.
Multiple tooth implants
When several adjacent teeth are missing, an implant-supported bridge may be considered. It can replace multiple teeth without requiring an implant for every tooth. The number and placement of implants depend on the proposed restoration and supporting bone.
Full arch implants
Replacing an entire arch of upper or lower teeth requires a different plan from replacing one tooth. Explore our full-arch / All-on-4 implant page to discuss that option. The single-implant starting offer does not cover a full arch.
Implant-supported dentures
Implants may also help retain a denture. Some designs are removable by the patient, while others are fixed and require professional removal. Ask how the recommended design attaches, how to clean it and what maintenance it needs.
Dental implants are one of several tooth replacement options. Traditional dentures and dental bridges may be appropriate alternatives. Compare treatment time, surgery, care requirements and total cost—not just appearance. Your personalized treatment plan should explain why an option is recommended.

PLAN WITH CONFIDENCE
Dental implant cost and insurance
Our single dental implants start at $1,500, including the implant, abutment and crown. That starting offer is not a guarantee of every patient’s total. Before committing, ask whether examinations, imaging, extractions, bone grafting, temporary teeth and follow-up services are included or billed separately.
We accept PPO dental insurance and self-pay patients. Confirm your specific plan and benefits; plan acceptance does not establish in-network status or implant coverage. If you need payment plans, ask about current options, eligibility and the total payable. Ask the team to explain any deposit, interest and repayment terms before you agree.

Benefits and limitations of dental implants
Dental implants can improve chewing and support a natural-looking smile. They can help preserve supporting bone and provide stability for replacement teeth. The benefits depend on your mouth, health and the restoration chosen; implants are not the right choice for everyone.
Treatment requires surgery and healing. Possible complications include infection, injury to nearby structures, implant failure and problems with the restoration. Implants and their replacement teeth need ongoing care and may need repair or replacement. Discuss your personal risks and alternatives with the treating dentist.
Caring for your dental implants
✓ Follow your dentist’s instructions for cleaning around the implant and replacement teeth.
✓ Keep regular dental visits and maintenance appointments.
✓ Tell the team promptly if an implant feels loose or painful.
✓ Ask how smoking, grinding and your health conditions affect long-term care.
Proper care helps protect the implant, surrounding gums and remaining natural teeth. Ask the team to demonstrate the right cleaning tools for your crown, bridge or denture. An implant restoration needs attention even though it cannot develop a cavity like a natural tooth.
Dental implant FAQs
Can I get dental implants and new teeth in one day?
Timing varies. Implant placement, a temporary tooth and the final restoration are different stages. Some treatment approaches allow an earlier temporary replacement, but same-day treatment is not guaranteed here. Ask what is appropriate for your case and what you would wear during healing.
Do I need bone grafting before implants?
Not everyone does. Your dentist assesses the amount and condition of the supporting bone and the restoration planned. Ask whether grafting is recommended, who would provide it, how it affects the timeline and whether its cost is separate.
What does the $1,500 starting offer include?
The confirmed starting offer includes a single implant, abutment and crown. Eligibility and additional treatment can affect your total. Ask for the current terms and a written estimate identifying any separate charges. It is not a price for full-mouth implants or a full arch of teeth.
How do I prepare for an implant consultation?
Bring your medication list, relevant dental records if available, insurance information and questions about your goals. Ask about appointment fees, what the consultation includes, your treatment options, the treating provider and the next steps. Our scheduling team can confirm what to bring to Rainbow.
