Dental Bleaching

Las Vegas Dental Bleaching – Teeth Whitening
Our teeth are exposed to multiple aspects of living that can take away from the whiteness of the teeth. In particular, smoking, drinking coffee or tea, drinking colas, eating foods with staining capabilities, and the presence of bacteria can all cause the teeth to lose their white coloring and become darker. Dental bleaching is a common cosmetic procedure performed by Las Vegas dentists to brighten healthy teeth that have yellow tones.
What Can You Expect from Dental Bleaching?
The results of your dental bleaching are dependent upon the condition of your teeth prior to having the procedure done. In general, you can expect your teeth to look whiter than what they do now when you undergo dental bleaching procedures.

Teeth with severe discoloration and deep yellowing can only become about two shades whiter than what they currently are. However, teeth that are not severely yellowed can become much whiter than they are prior to the bleaching process, perhaps even as white as the white area of the eyes.

Expected Results from Dental Bleaching
Las Vegas dental bleaching services are designed to produce whiter looking teeth. However, dental patients should understand that the results vary from one patient to the next. You can never expect to have teeth that are pure white, partly because this is not the natural appearance of the teeth. During the dental bleaching procedure, the tooth enamel actually undergoes bleaching.

Teeth that have the fewest stains or the lightest level of staining can expect a change of as much as three shades lighter once they undergo dental bleaching performed by a Las Vegas dentist. However, some patients may not experience any change at all in the whiteness of their teeth, even after undergoing dental bleaching. This is typically because the teeth are too severely stained or the condition of the tooth enamel prohibits proper bleaching.

Today’s dental bleaching agents are more sophisticated than the earlier versions of these solutions that came onto the market years ago. In particular, modern dental bleaching agents are safer to use on the teeth and they produce better results. Since they are more effective than their predecessors, today’s dental bleaching agents produce whiter looking teeth for most patients.

Older bleaching agents could create damage on the existing enamel of the teeth on which they were being used. Today, that worry has been minimized. However, in some cases, patients may experience minor tooth sensitivity after the bleaching process. In most instances, this reaction is temporary and goes away soon after the treatments have stopped.

Dental Bleaching Is a Cosmetic Procedure
This is true for different patients as well as for a single patient who has the procedure performed at several different times over a number of years. Since it is a cosmetic procedure, not all dental insurances cover the cost.
