Las Vegas Invisalign®
Rather than tolerate the unsightliness of traditional braces, some patients chose to keep their misaligned teeth. However, it is no longer necessary to suffer in silence, and today’s dental patients can visit their Las Vegas dentist with a request for invisible braces, known as Invisalign.
The Advantages of Invisalign® Braces
When you choose clear braces, your smile is that much brighter since it isn’t marred by the presence of metal on your teeth. Invisalign is nearly undetectable, so quite often, they are not noticed by the people around you. This means that anyone can straighten out their teeth without other people being able to tell. With the clear appearance of Invisalign braces, patients can transform their smile easily and prettily. Today, adults who stayed away from braces in their younger years, either because their parents could not afford it or they did not want to bother with the ugly appearance of braces, can have straight teeth using clear retainers.
Additionally, Invisalign® retainers are purported to provide improved hygienic conditions over that created by traditional orthodontic braces. This is due to the fact that the trays can be removed during eating, brushing, and flossing, enabling patients to keep their teeth cleaner.
Due to the fact that Invisalign® trays can be removed, the dietary choices are not nearly as restrictive as they once were. Sticky foods do not have to be avoided, allowing patients to indulge in sodas, candies, and other sweet treats. They must simply remember to remove the retainers before eating such food.
The Disadvantages of Invisalign® Braces
Although most people will not experience any difficulty when they start wearing their retainers, a small percentage of individuals will have problems. Patients who already have sensitive teeth or gums may experience discomfort each time that they make the change to a new retainer. Typically, this pain is short lived and goes away on its own.
Patients who disregard the requirement to wear the Invisalign retainers 24 hours a day/night may find that their teeth fail to realign themselves in a timely fashion. Therefore, the retainers may need to be worn for an extended period of time.
What is the Invisalign® Process?
The Invisalign process takes advantage of digital dentistry at its best. Your Las Vegas Orthodontist uses computer-imaging technology to design and create your braces. First, he takes several bite impressions of your mouth, which he uses along with the specialized three-dimensional computer imaging system for Invisalign to design a series of retainers/trays specifically for your teeth. All of the retainers are clear.
The first Invisalign® retainer fits your teeth as they are now. Each successive retainer is designed to apply gentle pressure upon your teeth in order to move them to a new alignment. As the configuration of your existing teeth changes, so does the shape/structure of the retainers. During each stage of the Invisalign® process, only certain teeth are targeted for movement.
The average number of Invisalign® retainers/trays typically falls somewhere between 18 and 30. However, you may need more or less, depending on your personal circumstances. Your progress influences this number.
Every Invisalign® retainer can be worn for a period of 14 days. They are designed to be worn throughout the entire day and night for 24 hours. However, they may be removed whenever the dental patient is eating, brushing, or flossing their teeth.
Does Invisalign® Take Less Time Than Traditional Braces?
Since the process is basically the same, that is, the dentist is helping you to change the configuration of your teeth, the use of Invisalign® braces takes approximately the same amount of time as conventional orthodontic braces. However, the process will take longer whenever the patient fails to wear their Invisalign® retainers as required.
